Training Courses
Flight Training
We offer the following training courses to students and provide an estimated cost of training under the available federal aviation regulation (FAR) parts. The estimated costs of training are for planning purposes only. They are based on the average student's training time, our aircraft rental rates, cost of training materials that we use, and the fees of any required FAA written and practical examinations. Due to the proficiency-based nature of flight training and delays due to weather or maintenance, the actual cost will vary by student. Please see our Paying For Training section for information on hourly rates, financing, and other factors.
Private Pilot Certificate
Estimated Cost: $10,000.00 (FAR parts 61 & 141)
Estimated Cost: $10,000.00 (FAR parts 61 & 141)
The Private Pilot Certificate Course is designed to teach you basic flight maneuvers, airplane systems, aerodynamics, night flight, cross-country navigation, Federal Aviation Regulations, and develop the skills and attitude necessary to be a proficient, safe, private pilot. This course is available under Part 61 and 141. We offer a prescheduled group ground school option for this certificate several times a year.
Instrument Rating
Estimated Cost: $10,000.00* (FAR parts 61 & 141)
Estimated Cost: $10,000.00* (FAR parts 61 & 141)
By attaching an instrument rating to a private pilot certificate, the instrument pilot may now operate in instrument meteorological conditions (IMC). This rating is very useful for pilots who intend to fly long distances frequently. It is a required step for pilots looking to enter the commercial sector of general aviation and beyond.
*If training under FAR part 61, this estimated cost assumes the student begins the initial instrument rating course with 35 hours of cross-country flight experience.
Commercial Pilot Certificate
Estimated Cost: $5,800.00 (FAR part 61)*, $22,000.00 (FAR part 141)
Commercial pilots are authorized to operate aircraft in which they are rated for compensation or hire under most parts of the FARs. This allows the pilot to gain entry-level employment as a pilot and also qualifies them to begin flight instructor training. Please note that additional training is still required to operate as an airline transport pilot.
*If training under FAR part 61, this estimated cost assumes the student begins the commercial pilot certificate course with a minimum of 230 hours of ASEL time.
*If training under FAR part 61, this estimated cost assumes the student begins the commercial pilot certificate course with a minimum of 230 hours of ASEL time.
Multi-Engine Rating
Estimated Cost: $5,700.00* (FAR part 61)
Estimated Cost: $5,700.00* (FAR part 61)
Both private and commercial pilots can attach a multi-engine rating to their pilot certificate to fly aircraft with more than one engine. This rating is very useful for pilots who need to carry more weight over long distances than most single-engine aircraft can handle, and is very beneficial for pilots looking to expand their commercial credentials.
Flight Instructor Certificate
Estimated Cost: $4,800.00 (FAR part 61), $6,500.00 (FAR part 141)
Certificated Flight Instructors (CFIs) are authorized to instruct students on the ground and during flight on procedures and maneuvers. The instructor must be rated as an instructor in that category and class of aircraft. After gaining experience as an instructor, they may also train new instructors. This course is available under Part 61 and 141.
Instrument Instructor Rating
Estimated Cost: $3,200.00 (FAR part 61), $4,200.00 (FAR part 141)
CFI's with an instrument rating are authorized to instruct students on the ground and during flight on procedures and maneuvers for IFR flight and to earn an instrument rating. After gaining experience as an instrument instructor, they may also train new instrument instructors. This course is available under Part 61 and 141.
Multi-Engine Instructor Rating
Estimated Cost: $7,200.00 (FAR part 61)
Estimated Cost: $7,200.00 (FAR part 61)
Instructors looking to earn more income can add the multi-engine rating to their instructor ticket and open up additional training opportunities. For those seeking to work at an airline, a multi-engine instructor rating is a must to be eligible for training roles.
